Heart Coloring Page, Day 21 Featuring Julia Chavez
Julia Chavez was raised in the Northeast area of Los Angeles. Her primary form of expression is through black and white film photography. Her work depicts Mexican-Americans, their culture, and their contributions to the workforce. Her images are the continued stories of the Mexican-American experience. The people she captures in her images are the storytellers that continue to weave the American history of the culture in all its struggles and triumphs.
The work that’s shown here are images taken from her sketchbook. The works she creates in the sketchbooks are all done in grayscale pen and ink. Her love of monochromatic film is also evident in her figurative surrealist drawings.
