Youth Theatre at Plaza de la Raza, 2022-23

The Salud Pa Ti Project will be a journey in Play creating and performance, using spoken and written word, music and dance. With support of the USC School of Dramatic Arts and 4CLab, this project will address issues of health and safety from the perspective of young people living in our community today. FREE, Ages 12-18. Open enrollment, Tuesday 5-7pm plus additional hours TBD.

The Ralph Lazo Project is a dramatization of the story of the young Chicano who volunteered to be imprisoned at Manzanar Internment Camp during WWII, to protest the unfair treatment of his Japanese friends and neighbors. FREE, Ages 12-18. Open enrollment, Tuesday 5-7pm plus additional hours TBD.

Participation in these youth theatre projects is FREE and will also include field trips and film presentations. Students will work with playwriting mentors and theater instructors to bring their thoughts and feelings to life onstage. Students should come dressed in comfortable clothes to move in, but no dance training required. Open to beginners and all levels.
